Uninstallation Guide

If you need to uninstall MetaTrader 5 from your computer, follow these steps. Note that uninstalling will remove the platform but will not delete your trading account or broker information.

Uninstallation Steps

Windows

  1. Close MetaTrader 5 if it is running
  2. Go to Control Panel → Programs → Uninstall a program
  3. Find MetaTrader 5 in the list
  4. Click Uninstall and follow the prompts
  5. Optionally delete the data folder in Documents

macOS

  1. Close MetaTrader 5 if it is running
  2. Open Applications folder
  3. Drag MetaTrader 5 to Trash
  4. Empty Trash to complete removal
  5. Optionally delete preferences and data folders

Linux

  1. Close MetaTrader 5 if it is running
  2. Use your package manager to remove the application
  3. Or manually delete the installation directory
  4. Remove configuration files from your home directory

Important Notes

  • Back up your Expert Advisors, indicators, and settings before uninstalling
  • Your trading account remains active - you can reinstall and reconnect anytime
  • Uninstalling does not cancel subscriptions or close positions
  • You can reinstall MetaTrader 5 at any time from our website
